A year in the life of Jack Sheffield. Part One

Jack Sheffield: Teacher, Teacher!

Fiction - Village Stories

Published by Bantam Press 2007

A delightfully simple and rather comic account of village life set in the quiet, rural Yorkshire countryside. The reader is cast into this village life alongside the new headteacher of Ragley School, Jack Sheffield. This narrative, set out as an honest, personal, as-it-happens logbook, follows Jack's progress as he grapples with the children and parents of Ragley School and his own personal dilemmas. Teacher, Teacher is Jack Sheffield's first autobiographical record of his real experience as a teacher at a village school. His own personal narration, helps to highlight the true close-knit community spirit that can be found in village life. There is much excitement to be found in Ragley-on-the-Forest, especially as its inhabitants are nothing more than gossiping, know-it-alls with wonderfully funny children who have exceptional comic timing and wit. It is Jack's interaction with all of these people that is the making of this novel.
